Unless I’m mistaken using git submodules for the rails source will hammer the rails repo every time you deploy. Is that right? If so we should probably warn people away from that option. I hope I’m mistaken.

Thanks for this article. I was about to use breaid, but submodule are really better.
With git and github, a big step has been done in developement.

I recently started working on braid, and Cristi "released a new version":http://evil.che.lu/2008/4/30/ann-braid-0-4-piston-lookalike-for-git just yesterday. The project is very much alive!
