I transmit your URL to someone who ask a question on Flash/Rails in the Rails forum... trying to bring more people into a constructive discussion...

to end this chapter.. I believe that is possible to write a kind of send request to Rails.... something like...

example :
		// add special click action
		if(displayProperties[i].contentType=="email"){
			mc.onPress=function (){
...
        railsRequest.contentType='application/text';
        railsRequest.send(this.gateway+controller);
        delete railsRequest;
.....
			};
		}

isn't it ?

Hi Matt. Thanks for your great tutorial. I got a similar project up and running locally with your help. Now deploying it to a server gives me a headache... I get into a lot of flash security problems. Even though the swf file is in the public folder of the rails app it still tries to call for a crossdomain.xml file (which I cannot get to work either). Do you have any idea how to make the flash file and rails behave as they are on the same server? I suspect it might be some server side trouble with setup of domain names etc. which is not my field.

Hi again. I got it working now, so thanks again and disregard my previous comment! In case someone else reading this has similar problems, my problem turned out to be that rails returned html instead of xml for some reason... removing the html response from the controller fixed it. No idea yet why this happens though.
